STEVE VAI PASSION AND WARFARE REVIEW SERIES
The third in this series of celebratory guitars looks to the traditional role silver plays in observance of a 25th anniversary, marrying it with the color combination reminiscent of the custom 7-string that Steve used when touring with Whitesnake, immediately following the release of Passion & Warfare. Since that time, Steve, along with countless other 7-string enthusiasts have continued to incorporate the Universe into a myriad of musical settings that have both inspired and challenged the world. Initially adopted by like-minded guitar virtuosos, Steve's vision of a new musical landscape took a turn that perhaps even he hadn't anticipated when, in the hands of Korn and other purveyors of 90's new metal, the 7-string became mandatory equipment for anyone engaging in the genre. This 7-string guitar, which Steve dubbed the 'Universe', was showcased prominently on Passion & Warfare, and opened the door for guitarists of every musical background to expand their artistic horizons. Critically acclaimed and publicly celebrated for its unique artistic vision and sheer musical muscle, Passion & Warfare, is now considered the milestone that marks the arrival of the 7-string solid body electric guitar. Baritone Horns, Euphoniums, and Alto HornsĢ015 marked the 25th anniversary of the release of Steve Vai's landmark solo album, Passion & Warfare.
Speakers - Speakers & Tweeters Component. This album is a true masterpiece and a must for anyone guitarist or anyone who just enjoys a good tune to hum. Whether Vai is jamming to a rock powerhouse such as "Erotic Nightmare" or pouring his heart out on an acoustic ("Sisters") each song has it's on unique feel and story. Steve has a true passion for his music, and you can truly feel his love in each measure of this beautiful album. Yet at the same time, the tune "Blue Powder" seems to convey a series of emotiona better left for the music to display. Some songs seem to have been written purely for the fun of playing them, such as "Greasy Kid's Stuff," an up tempoed song build around a nice melody and a sweet guitar tone. From the nearly orchestral and highly patriotic tune "Liberty" to Steve's signature song "For The Love Of God" this album is full of every emotion one can express. Steve Vai's "Passion And Warfare" is a true show of technical brilliance, deep levels of compositional skills, and true musical inspiration. As Vai once said, "Kill the guy with the ball, ice pick in the forehead, rip off your head and shit in the hole but all with a smile." Pa Review Summary: From sweep picking to two-hand tapping bass fills this album has just about everything you could want and then some.
